9 ways to help stay safe when you leave the house to avoid Coronavirus!

Before we begin the article to understand the simple ways to remain while we leave the house, let’s all understand, we should only leave the house in an utmost need only.

  1. Only leave home when in an absolutely necessary
  2. Work from home and do not travel
  3. Do not try to meet others – even friends and relatives.

India is under lockdown for more 20 days and if care not taken by us, we may become the reason to increase the isolation period and probably end up suffering deadly coronavirus.

It’s in our hands to flatten the curve and yes we can do it!! If you not been following these simple basic rules while stepping out of the house for your grocery, medicines or opening your doors, this is a good time to start!

We all may be practicing social distancing and thoroughly washing your hands or you all are wearing masks, but there are more precautions to be taken.

Here are 9 simple ways to help stay safe when you leave the house

Do not use your fingertips or your hands:

It’s easier to spread the virus when you go out to buy grocery, you may touch anything and later touch other objects or your face. Rather use your elbow to press the lift button, knuckles or feet while opening the doors. This doesn’t mean, the virus doesn’t spread through elbow or knuckles or feet, yes there are chances, but the chances of transmission reduce drastically.

Maintain Safe Distance:

Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone. Even the shops are following this thumb rule and we can support them while queuing or walking on the streets.

Go Cashless:

The World Health Organization is urging people to use contactless payments. All e-commerce companies have made it available which includes grocery, health supplements, medicine or food. It is being claimed that currency notes may be one of the factors in spreading the coronavirus. The virus may cling to the cash for some period of time, and changing hands multiple times is much more likely to pick up the deadly virus.

Do Not Touch your Mobile Phone

The moment you leave your house, do carry your phone for some emergency but avoid touching it again and again. This can lead to a mobile phone becoming the biggest carriers of the deadly virus. Put it in your bag or pocket till the time you need it for something urgent.

Always check your bag

Make sure, you use the same bag every time you go out for buying the essential commodities. Wipe the inside of the bag, the keys and your mobile phone before putting them in your bag. Once you are back from the shopping, put your bag on the floor which can be wiped easily later and make sure you wipe everything you carried with you along with the inside of your bag.

Wash everything as soon as you reach home

Leave the shop immediately you done with your shopping, and reach home fast. As soon as you get in the door, you should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before touching anything else. Keep the set of clothes away, which you can utilize for going out, this way you are mixing the clothes and help avoid spreading of the virus.

Immediately go for the bath

After ensuring, you have taken care at every step, you are yet exposed yourself to getting infected with the virus. Hence, immediately you reach home, keep the bag down on the floor, clean the essential commodities in the bag, clean the inside of the bag, drop your clothes into the washing machine and directly g for the bath. This should be your lats but the most important step to do. This way, you ensure every single step of yours is backed up with the process of eliminating all the chances of getting contaminated with the deadly virus.

Carry a sanitizer with you

It is almost next to impossible to not touch the door handles, to outside food objects or groceries. Try using the hand sanitizer at every step you touch any object. This way you can stop the spread of the virus, the moment you leave the house to the moment you return.

Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask can be considered as the last line of defense. But yet, mak do not fully cover your mouth, few openings are there WHO provides guidelines on how to wear a mask.

  • Before putting on a mask, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Cover mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
  • Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.
  • To remove the mask: remove it from behind (do not touch the front of a mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
